Yoga for Kids
Schools these days are emphasizing more on yoga studies. The awareness amongst kids, teachers and parents is increasing tremendously.
Yoga at an early stage can help bring discipline, physical fitness, concentration and liveliness in a child. Simple poses of yogasanas can help increase the concentration, the imagination and creativity as well as help in maintaining physical fitness in terms of weight, height and personality.
These days there is a lot of pressure on kids. Pressure of homeworks, carrying loads of books to the school, continuous school activities and competition requires the kid to be active and physically fit. Yoga helps kids to develop a sense of responsibility towards their own body, its fitness and flexibility.
Regular complaints amongst children of lack of concentration and being unable to grasp the lessons taught in school can be overcome by a simple yogasana like Siddhasana and Pranayam. These asanas help keep serenity and peace within a child. These in turn help a child in developing the urge and interest to learn and grasp more. One of the yoga practices is Visualization. The child is asked to close his eyes and visualize green and healthy nature, trees and beautiful birds. This helps in cultivating a sense of appreciation towards nature along with bringing in calmness and silence within the kid.
To help in the growth of height and overall personality, yogasanas like Chakrasana , Tadasana and many more are beneficial. The asanas bring in stimulation within the body thus making their muscles and bones strong which gradually helps in increasing height and muscles.
Yoga for kids, include simple yogasanas(techinques) which involves easy poses as per the kids ability to execute them. The techniques for kids are the same, but the extent to which they perform so differ accordingly. Moreover, as the child progresses the stages of yoga get advanced accordingly.
But yoga should be learnt correctly. If executed in a wrong manner, it can cause adverse problems in a child. For eg: Breathing techniques in yoga should be cultivated rightly, or else that might cause respiratory problems. Children should execute yogasanas only under proper guidance of yoga teachers.
